The tool
Cartographer is released under the MIT licence. In short: you may use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense and sell copies of it, provided the copyright notice and the licence text travel with it. The full licence is in the repository, and it is the text that governs; this paragraph is a summary.
The MIT licence also says, in capital letters, that the software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and that the authors are not liable for any claim or damages arising from its use. That is as true of Cartographer as of any other MIT licensed tool. Maps and appraisals are generated from your transcripts by the coding agent you already use, following a brief Cartographer writes; they can be wrong, and the verdict they give is a reading of the record, not a guarantee about your code.
The installer
The one-line installers on the Install page download Cartographer from this site and place it in your home directory. They are short scripts, and you are welcome to read them before running them: install.sh and install.ps1. Running a script you fetched from the internet is your decision, and the warranty disclaimer above applies to the installer as much as to the tool.
The website
The text, design and images on codecartographer.dev are copyright Situated Strategies LLC unless another source is named. Quoting from the site with a link back is fine. Republishing whole pages is not. The pages of the site are in the same public repository as the tool and carry the same MIT licence. The Cartographer name and logo are not part of that grant and may not be used in a way that suggests we made or endorsed something we did not.
Blog posts on this site cite their sources. The cited material belongs to its authors and publishers, and a citation is not a claim of endorsement by them. Where this site describes another company's product, it does so from that company's own documentation, linked.
The site is offered as is. We try to keep it accurate and online, and we fix errors when they are pointed out, but we make no promise that it is complete, current or uninterrupted.
Advertising and support
The site carries advertising served by Google AdSense, which is how a free tool pays for its hosting. Ads are selected by Google, not by us, and an ad's presence on a page is not a recommendation. The Ko-fi button is a way to support the work voluntarily; nothing on the site or in the tool is gated behind it.
Contact and changes
Questions about these terms go to support@codecartographer.dev. If the terms change, the new version is published here with a new date. These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of the state in which Situated Strategies LLC is organised.
